Proposed Met-Ed Rate Hike Suspended, Investigation Coming

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has voted unanimously to suspend a June first rate increase that's been proposed by Met-Ed parent company First Energy. The commission also says it will investigate the plan that would have boosted customers' rates by about nine percent. The increase request has now been suspended for up to seven months, pending an investigation by a PUC administrative law judge. A final decision is due by January first of next year.
