TAYLOR SWIFT: The Doctor Talks to Grads

Tay, who picked up an honorary doctorate at the school's graduation ceremony, addressed tens of thousands of grads and their families. She talked about the embarrassing moments in her past and how she got past them, and suggested everyone could do the same.

After talking about how she left school after 10th grade, she got down to business. "Learn to live alongside cringe. No matter how hard you try to avoid being cringe, you will look back on your life and cringe retrospectively. Cringe is unavoidable over a lifetime. Even the term ‘cringe’ might someday be deemed ‘cringe.' You can’t avoid it, so don’t try to."

She summed things up by saying, "My experience has been that my mistakes led to the best things in my life. And being embarrassed when you mess up is part of the human experience. Getting back up, dusting yourself off and seeing who still wants to hang out with you afterward and laugh about it? That’s a gift."
