Before Carly Pearce was a country music superstar, she spent almost a decade trying to make it in Nashville. While chatting with Cody Alan, Pearce recalled the one job from before her record deal that has stayed with her all these years.
“I cleaned Airbnbs in Nashville for a few years, and people are Nasty! Gross!" she revealed. "I would clean these massive homes for bachelor and bachelorette parties and I would have to bake cookies for them and leave them. I did all kinds of things."
"I think that the most memorable is just how disgusting people are," she continued, saying the gig "forever changed my thought on how I leave a hotel room, or how I leave an Airbnb, or how I leave a fitting room because somebody has to clean that up. I am just telling you, people are nasty. The things that I saw may have scarred me. They don’t care."
Pearce worked jobs like that for many years as she worked towards country music stardom. “I had to make ends meet. I had to pay my rent. I had to get food for my cat,” Pearce said of her early days in Music City.
For Pearce, Nashville was a "ten-year town." During that time, Pearce says she "had a record deal, lost it, and for a couple of years didn’t have a job." Eventually, of course, Pearce landed the record deal that would lead her to become a household name for country music fans.
