Kelly Clarkson cranked up the sass when she performed Jo Dee Messina’s breakup anthem “Bye Bye” on her talk show on Wednesday (September 28), and Messina had the best response.

Messina, who also shared a clip of Clarkson’s performance on her social media channels earlier in the day, posted a video that evening in response to the “Kellyoke” cover. Messina said in the video that she was packing to get on the road when “my phone starts blowing up” because of Clarkson’s rendition of her song. “I found out Kelly Clarkson did a version of ‘Bye Bye’ today on her show, and it was awesome,” Messina gushed. “And if you missed it, you have to go back and see it.”

Messina sat at her piano and dedicated a cover of “Breakaway” to Clarkson. Clarkson released the song in 2004 on her 12-track studio album of the same name. That project also included fan-favorite hits “Since U Been Gone” and “Because Of You,” among others. Listen to Messina’s stunning performance here:

“I love you, girl!” Messina gushed, clapping and flashing a big smile to the camera to end her video. Clarkson couldn’t resist sharing Messina’s reaction for her Kelly Clarkson Show viewers. Re-watch her “Bye Bye” performance here:
