Summer is just around the corner, and what better way to soak up the sunshine than at your state's best swimming hole! If you do not prefer the crowds and fees tagged onto a day at your local public pool, then this article is for you. Swimming holes are great, natural alternatives to chlorinated pools, but, as Cheapism warns, many of these areas do not have lifeguards like public pools do. It is important to recognize this factor to assure that you and your loved ones remain safe as you swim.

These natural wonders, often located inside state or national parks, are typically free for the most part, aside from the occasional parking pass or park fee. So...what are you waiting for? Time to splash into the next season!

According to a list compiled by Cheapism, the best "swimming hole" in all of Pennsylvania is Rock Run.

Here's what Cheapism had to say about the absolute best swimming hole in the entire state:

"This mountain stream running down a gorge in the Loyalsock State Forest has been one of Lycoming County's best-kept secrets. Three beautiful spots where waterfalls rush into cold, emerald-green pools are accessible via a steep walk down from Rock Run Road."
