Scotty McCreery sat in his truck and cranked up the volume to catch his new summer anthem on the radio for the first time.

McCreery joined forces with Hootie & the Blowfish — a group of rockers made up of country star Darius Rucker, plus Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Jim Sonefeld — on “Bottle Rockets.” The collaboration making its world premiere on iHeartCountry stations nationwide on Thursday (May 15). The summer-worthy single includes a nostalgic nod to Hootie & the Blowfish’s 1994 hit, “Hold My Hand.” “Bottle Rockets” will be available to stream at 12 p.m. ET, the former American Idol champ noted.

“This song takes me back to those summers of having fun with no responsibilities with good times and good tunes,” McCreery said of the single that kicks off a new wave of summer music. “For me growing up in the Carolinas, Hootie & the Blowfish were just massive, and that's what this song ‘Bottle Rockets’ is about.”

“Bottle Rockets” is the latest in a growing list of career-spanning anthems by McCreery, joining “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It,” “Fall of Summer,” “It Matters To Her,” “Damn Strait,” “Feelin’ It,” “Cab In A Solo,” “You Time,” and much more. Watch McCreery react to hearing “Bottle Rockets” on the radio for the first time here, and catch the full song below and on iHeartCountry stations.
