The Philadelphia Eagles have extended head coach Nick Sirianni's contract, rewarding him for leading the team to a Super Bowl victory. On Monday (May 19), the Eagles announced the multi-year extension, though specific details of the deal were not disclosed. Team owner Jeffrey Lurie praised Sirianni's "authentic style of leadership" and his ability to foster a championship environment.
Sirianni, who was hired in 2021, has been instrumental in the Eagles' recent success. After taking over a team that finished 4-11-1, Sirianni led the Eagles to a 9-8 record in his first season, followed by a Super Bowl appearance the next year. The Eagles fell short in that game, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, they rebounded in 2024 with a 14-3 regular-season record and a decisive 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Sirianni's leadership has been a key factor in the Eagles' resurgence, despite changes in the coaching staff. Former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore left to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, but the Eagles have managed similar transitions in the past. The team remains a strong contender for the upcoming 2025 season, with stars like Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown on the roster.
