A police chase that began in Berks County on Wednesday (June 18) ended with a crash near a Walmart in Ephrata, Lancaster County. The pursuit started in Cumru Township when officers attempted to stop a vehicle reported as stolen. The chase continued until the vehicle crashed in Lancaster County.
According to Reading Eagle, a separate high-speed chase occurred in Berks County on Wednesday night (June 11), involving 28-year-old Carlos Flores. This chase began in Reading when police tried to stop Flores for an active warrant. Flores initially stopped but then accelerated, leading officers on a 24-mile pursuit that reached speeds of 120 miles per hour. The chase ended near the Adamstown exit of Route 222 after police used spike strips and an unmarked vehicle to stop Flores' car.
Flores, who was wanted for allegedly stealing a gun from his ex-girlfriend, was taken into custody by state police from the Lancaster and Reading stations. He faces multiple charges, including theft by unlawful taking, possessing a firearm while prohibited, and flight to avoid apprehension. Flores was arraigned and committed to Berks County Jail with a bail set at $110,000. A search of his vehicle revealed a stolen 9 mm pistol, synthetic cannabis, and marijuana.
As of now, no additional details have been released regarding the crash in Lancaster County, including whether anyone is in custody.
