The Lower Dauphin School District has appointed Dr. Gregory Milbrand as its new superintendent. The school board unanimously voted for Milbrand on Monday (July 14) to replace Dr. Robert Gildea, who will resign in August. Milbrand will become the seventh superintendent since the district's founding in the 1960s.

Dr. Milbrand brings over 25 years of experience in public education to his new role. He most recently served as assistant superintendent at Cumberland Valley School District. His career also includes roles as assistant secondary principal and middle school principal at the Halifax Area School District. He has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Education in School Administration from Shippensburg University, and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership and Administration from Immaculata University.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new position, Milbrand stated, "I am truly excited to join this distinguished district, grounded in a proud tradition of excellence and unwavering community support," as reported by WGAL.

Dr. Gildea, the outgoing superintendent, will move on to serve as the chief education officer at Bishop Guilfoyle Academy. The transition in leadership is set to occur in August, marking a new chapter for the Lower Dauphin School District.
