>>13 Charged In "Vehicle Title-Washing Criminal Enterprise"

Thirteen individuals face charges for their involvement in a vehicle title-washing scheme that spanned from Florida to Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office announced that the group, led by Anthony Troncoso, stole high-end vehicles from Florida and fraudulently registered them in Pennsylvania to sell them, a practice known as "title-washing."

The criminal enterprise, known as the "Troncoso Organization," reportedly profited over $1 million. According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, the group presented fake documents to notaries in Berks, Lehigh, and Dauphin Counties to obtain fraudulent titles. They then sold vehicles, including brands like Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW, to unsuspecting buyers through dealerships, auctions, and online platforms.

The investigation began when Carlisle Cadillac alerted authorities in November 2022 about a suspicious Porsche sale. The Grand Jury identified Anthony Troncoso as the mastermind, with his son Brandon Troncoso and Dario Jimenez-Lopez playing significant roles. Jimenez-Lopez, who operated a dealership in Florida, supplied vehicles and dealer tags.

The Attorney General's Insurance Fraud Section will prosecute the case. The defendants face charges including corrupt organizations, theft, and forgery. The scheme's unraveling was credited to the collaboration of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Pennsylvania State Police and Miami-Dade Auto Theft Unit.
