A mechanic from Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, Fares Farhat, is facing hundreds of charges for allegedly issuing counterfeit inspection stickers to commercial vehicles. According to Pennsylvania State Police, Farhat, who was suspended from conducting safety inspections, accepted over $75,000 to provide fake inspection stickers while working at several A-Plus Auto Inspection sites.
Beginning in October 2024, Farhat allegedly distributed these fraudulent stickers to more than 150 trucking companies across multiple counties in the state. His actions came to light after more than 40 commercial vehicles linked to him failed roadside safety inspections and were put out of service.
Farhat's case is part of a broader issue in the region. In a related incident, Choukri Bouslama, owner of Choukri Auto Services LLC in Harrisburg, was also charged with issuing fraudulent safety and emissions stickers. Bouslama allegedly falsified mileage records to exempt vehicles from emissions testing. He faces charges of forgery and tampering with public records.
Both cases highlight the ongoing efforts by Pennsylvania State Police to crack down on fraudulent vehicle inspections. Farhat's legal proceedings are expected to continue as authorities address the widespread impact of these counterfeit operations.
