Teen Arrested for Lancaster Shooting in July

A 16-year-old named Edwin Ortiz has been charged in connection with a shooting incident that took place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, last month. According to the Lancaster City Police, Ortiz is accused of firing shots at an occupied vehicle at the intersection of East Strawberry and Woodward streets on July 7. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the incident, although one of the victims suffered bruising from a bullet fragment.

Ortiz was arrested on Wednesday (August 27) and is currently being held without bail in Lancaster County Prison. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and firearm offenses. Police reported that Ortiz was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle when he allegedly shot at another car with two people inside, just before 8 p.m.

Court documents indicate that there were four bullet marks on the vehicle, with a bullet fragment found on the floor of the front passenger seat and another bullet tearing through the rear headrest. Ortiz's preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 3.

Ortiz has a history of firearm-related charges, including a previous arrest for carrying a firearm without a license when he was 18 years old. At that time, he was found in possession of a stolen Glock .380 semi-automatic handgun.
