Trout restocking efforts are set to commence in October across Pennsylvania, with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) planning to stock approximately 116,500 hatchery-raised adult Rainbow, Brown, and Brook Trout in various lakes and streams. This initiative aims to replenish popular fishing spots and provide opportunities for anglers during the fall and winter months.

According to the PFBC, the stocking will take place from October 1 through mid-December, with about 89,000 adult trout being released into 53 lakes and 40 streams in October alone. The restocking schedule is available online, allowing anglers to find a stream or lake in their area. However, factors like water temperature fluctuations and hatchery logistics may cause schedule changes, so it's advised to check regularly for updates.

Brian Niewinski, Director of the PFBC Bureau of Hatcheries, emphasized the appeal of fall fishing, noting that anglers can enjoy beautiful scenery and comfortable temperatures while fishing for stocked trout. The extended trout season, which began on September 2 and lasts through February 16, 2026, allows for a daily creel limit of three trout of combined species with a minimum size of seven inches.

Additionally, the PFBC welcomes volunteers to assist with the stocking process. Anglers aged 16 and older must have a valid fishing license and trout permit to fish for or keep trout. Licenses and permits can be purchased online through the HuntFish.pa.gov portal or from authorized agents statewide.

For more details, anglers can visit the PFBC website to view the [stocking schedules](https://fbweb.pa.gov/stocking/TroutStockingDetails_GIS.aspx) and find great fishing locations across the state. The PFBC also reminds anglers using boats that anyone on a boat 16 feet in length must wear a lifejacket, and children 12 and under must always wear a life jacket.
