Brad Paisley’s Special Memory With George H.W. Bush

In an exclusive interview with Cody Alan, Brad Paisley reflects on a special moment that he shared with George H.W. Bush.

“I sang a Glen Campbell song for him at an event, and I sang “Try A Little Kindness,” and he was singing that back to me. I could see him in the audience lip-synching it," shared Brad.

Brad met the late president alongside Reba McEntire when playing at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo in 2014. Brad shared with ABC "They've come a few times when it's my night, and that's always the honor, you know, of a lifetime to have the Bushes there when playing a show." The Bushes and Paisley family have since made it a tradition to meet for lunch every year.

Brad took to social media to pay tribute to the late president, saying, “War hero, congressman, Ambassador, CIA Director, VP, President, father, family man, friend. Thank you for your friendship & for giving yourself so fully to these United States. I’ll miss you pal. Barbara’s got the place all organized up there by now, I’m sure. Go home."

Reba McEntire and the Oakridge Boys also paid tribute to the late president by performing at President George H.W. Bush’s funeral on Thursday morning. Reba performed “The Lord’s Prayer” as a tribute to her longtime friend and the Oakridge Boys performed “Amazing Grace,” which was a promise that they had made to the president before his passing.
