Study Suggests Snoring Can Lead to Cognitive Slowdown

(Undated) -- A new study finds snoring resulting from severe sleep apnea may lead to a decline in cognitive function or early dementia.. Participants in the study included men with mild to severe sleep apnea, a condition where a person stops and starts breathing while asleep. The men wore skull caps to allow scientists to measure their brain waves, oxygen levels and cognitive function. They found the ones with severe sleep apnea were less focused, had short term memory problems and couldn't attain their goals. The King's College London study was published in the journal Frontiers in Sleep.
