Time Almost Up To Request Mail-In Or Absentee Ballot In Upcoming PA Primary

Time is running out for Pennsylvania voters to request mail-in or absentee ballots for the upcoming primary election. The deadline to submit these requests is Tuesday (May 13). The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday (May 20), with various municipal races on the ballot, including notable contests in Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York.

Registered voters in Pennsylvania have the option to request either a no-excuse mail-in ballot or an absentee ballot. To apply, voters can use a valid Pennsylvania driver's license, a PennDOT-issued photo ID, or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Applications can be submitted online or through a paper application that must be received by the county election office by the deadline.

For voters who miss the deadline, there is still an option to obtain an emergency absentee ballot in cases of unexpected illness, disability, or last-minute absence from the municipality. These emergency ballots can be requested after the deadline and must be submitted by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters are encouraged to ensure their voter registration status is up-to-date and to contact their county board of elections for specific ballot information. The primary election will determine party nominees, and only registered Democrats and Republicans can vote in these contests. However, all registered voters can participate if the ballot includes other measures or questions.
