Strong winds have left thousands without power across central Pennsylvania. As of Thursday morning (November 6), approximately 46,216 homes and businesses in the state are experiencing outages, making Pennsylvania the most affected state in the U.S. by percentage of customers impacted, according to PowerOutage.us.
The winds have caused significant disruptions. Local21 News reports that more than 3,400 customers in Dauphin County, over 1,200 in Lancaster County, and more than 700 in Cumberland County are without power. PPL Electric Utilities estimates that power in Dauphin County should be restored by 11 p.m.
Lebanon County is also reporting more than 1,000 outages.
Berks County is also reporting outages.
Meanwhile, Met-Ed is working to restore power to over 2,500 customers in York County and several hundred more in surrounding areas.
Residents are advised to stay away from downed power lines and report them immediately to 911. The utility companies are assessing the damage to provide more specific restoration times.
