'Surprise': Carrie Underwood Shares Sweet Photo Of Newborn Family Member

Carrie Underwood surprised her Instagram followers when she introduced the newest addition to the family on Wednesday evening (April 2).

“Surprise! We had our first little lamb born on the farm yesterday!” Underwood wrote in text that appears alongside the newborn lamb with its mother. The lamb is the latest animal to join Underwood’s family, along with donkeys, cows and more. “What a cutie! ❤️❤️❤️”

Underwood has previously shared a few photos with the sheep, including a recent selfie on Instagram with the caption: “the s help and I want you to watch [American Idol] tonight. Gary is stubborn and won’t take no for an answer! 🐑” The eight-time Grammy winner launched her career when she won the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. She made her highly-anticipated return to the show as a judge for the first time this year, 20 years after her victory.

The “Before He Cheats” artist has been reminiscing on her Idol days in a digital series, Idol To Icon. Underwood reacted as she watched her audition in the first episode of the series (she covered Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” for then-judges Randy JacksonPaula Abdul and Simon Cowell). She said afterward: “It is really incredible to think, a few decisions that we can make in life that can completely alter our trajectory.

“I make the joke now that it’s like, I grew up on a farm in a really small town [Checotah, Oklahoma], go try out for American Idol, go all over the world, go on tours, make albums, do all this stuff, just so I could buy a farm,” she said with a laugh, “and go back to the farm and live on a farm in a small, little town [outside Nashville, Tennessee]. That’s roots. We all have them. You can’t get away from them, and sometimes you kind of have to go out and see all the other stuff before you realize, ‘man, I had it pretty good and I kinda want that back.’ I love my life so much now. I feel like I kinda get the best of both worlds. I get my days on the farm at home, I get my chickens and my sheep. There’s still a lot to do. It’s a lot of work. It’s very fulfilling.”
