>>Two Recovering After Susquehanna Township Crash

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Two people are recovering after a head-on collision in Susquehanna Township yesterday. It happened on the 47-hundred block of North Front Street around midday, closing the road for almost 90 minutes. Both drivers were taken to the hospital after the wreck. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Susquehanna Township police.

>>Rookie Cops Move Into The Field For Training In Harrisburg

(Harrisburg, PA) -- There are ten rookie cops moving into the field to continue their police training in Harrisburg. The ten had spent significant time in the classroom to ready them to ride along with seasoned officers for the next 12 weeks. After field training is done, those officers will be on probation for one year.

>>Steelton Cops Investigate Reported Kidnapping Attempt

(Steelton, PA) -- Police in Steelton are investigating a reported attempted kidnapping last week. It’s believed to have happened on the 300-block of Pine Street September 18th. A child was said to be outside when a van approached. That’s when the kid ran onto the front porch and grabbed a baseball bat before the vehicle drove off. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Steelton police.

>>Derry Township Gym To Close

(Derry Twp., PA) -- A gym in Derry Township is closing its doors for good and blaming the coronavirus pandemic. In a letter to members this week, Power Train Sports officials said they will close their East Granada Avenue location for good October 16th. Their lease with the township and the school district was up for renewal on October 31st, with gym representatives saying they couldn’t reach an agreement. They added that despite reopening in late June, they hadn’t been able to recover financially. 

>>State College Police Issue Mask Citations

(State College, PA) -- Police in State College say they’re cited ten people so far for not wearing a mask. Each of those citations issued between the 14thand 20thof this month comes with a 300-dollar fine, according to Pennlive. The borough’s ordinance requires everyone to wear a mask when outdoors, and to limit small gatherings to 10 people.

>>Department Of Health Announce 853 New COVID-19 Cases

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The P-A Department of Health is adding 853 new COVID-19 cases to the Commonwealth’s total. That brings P-A to 153-thousand-397 confirmed or probable coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. They announced 17-new COVID-19 related deaths Thursday.

>>Hanover Area School District To Start Hybrid Learning Schedule

(Hanover Township, PA) -- The Hanover Area School District is preparing to start bringing kids back to school with a hybrid instruction model on October 5th. District officials say they were running into the same problems as other districts with virtual learning such as a shortage of laptop computers for students. They added that the percent positivity rate for their communities has been between 2 and 3-percent over the last month, so they will take the next steps to move forward and bring students back to the classroom. Parents will have the option to keep their kids on the virtual learning model, but those that return for the hybrid will have split schedules, mask requirements, protective desk shields and have their body temperatures monitored throughout the day.

(New Holland, PA) -- Officials with the Eastern Lancaster County School District are pushing to allow people to attend their sporting events. They voted in favor of having 33% capacity at games moving forward. That would allow about one-thousand fans outside and nearly 150 at indoor events. The District is preparing for their first football game of the season tonight as Annville will take on Cleona.

>>Be Alert Around Harrisburg Airport Saturday

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Travelers are being told to have patience this weekend around Harrisburg International Airport. That's the warning from airport officials ahead of tomorrow's presidential rally. President Donald Trump will be in town as the election nears to host what's being called a "Great American Comeback" event. Officials say that it will not happen at the terminal, but they want to make sure that your travel remains simple.

>>Arrest Made In Lancaster Riot

(Lancaster, PA) -- Another person is in custody related to the city damage following a police involved shooting in Lancaster. According to police, 31-year-old Christopher Vasquez threw bricks at a law enforcement vehicle on the night of September 13th. It's also been alleged he lit an umbrella on fire and threw it inside of a police cruiser. Vasquez faces several charges that include riot and arson. He was arrested on Wednesday.

>>Voting Center Changes In Cumberland Co

(Carlisle, PA) -- Voters in Cumberland County are being told to be aware of polling location changes. The county recently announced that nine voting locations have been changed. Officials are saying that the changes are due to a building closure and space allocation. More information is available at ccpa.net.

>>Over 500 Total COVID-19 Patients Recover, Released From Reading Hospital

(West Reading, PA) -- Over 500 patients have recovered from COVID-19-related illnesses and been released from Reading Hospital. Each time a patient who has battled coronavirus is released, a heart is added to a special wall display. Hospital staff call it a team effort, with help coming from everyone from doctors and nurses to dietary and cleaning staff. Those leaving the hospital may continue to cope with ongoing conditions or longer term effects from the virus. The hospital is beginning to turn some of its attention to distributing flu shots as the annual season begins, complicating the effects of COVID-19

>>Two-Car Reading Crash Hurts At Least One

(Reading, PA) -- At least one person is hurt after a two-car crash in Reading. The crash happened last night on Lancaster Avenue near the bottom of the ramp to Route 422. No word on what led to the crash or on the condition of the person taken to the hospital. An investigation is underway.

>>Sex Assault Reported at Wernersville State Hospital

(South Heidelberg Township, PA) -- A sexual assault is being reported at Wernersville State Hospital. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a patient reported Wednesday that she was sexually assaulted in her sleep by a male hospital staff member. The victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police haven't said if a suspect has been identified or arrested.

>>Trucker Sentenced for Crash That Killed Wedding Bound Couple

(Reading, PA) -- A semi driver is facing jail time for his role in a crash that killed a couple bound for their wedding. Jaspreet Chahal learned yesterday that he will spend between just under a year to nearly two years in jail, followed by two years of probation. Court documents say Chahal was talking on his phone while driving in November 2018 when he crashed into a line of stopped vehicles in Windsor Township near Hamburg. Joseph Kearney and Kathryn Schurtz died at the scene.

>>Lancaster Man Arrested For Damage Caused During Protests

(Lancaster, PA) -- A 31-year-old Lancaster man is in custody after police say he caused thousands in damage during recent protests in the city. Christopher Vazquez was arrested at his home Wednesday and charged with riot, arson, institutional vandalism, failure to disperse, and disorderly conduct. Investigators believe he caused nearly $28,000 in damages during the protests. 

>>Governor Wants GOP Leaders To Stop "Irresponsible Behavior"

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf is asking GOP lawmakers to stop acting irresponsibly while they are trying to save lives amid the pandemic. The remark came only one day after the house failed to override his veto on a bill that would let schools set attendance limits for sporting events and extra-curricular activities, which Wolf called unnecessary legislation. Wolf says this is not the time for a grandstanding, it is the time to do things that are actually going to help people and save lives. Republicans in the state House and Senate rejected the governor's remarks saying Wolf needs to work with them instead of acting on his own.

>>Federal Investigation Into Luzerne County Bureau Of Elections

(Wilkes-Barre, PA) -- The U.S. Attorney's office is launching a federal investigation into the Luzerne County Bureau of Elections after nine military mail-in ballots had been found in a dumpster. 

The U.S. Attorney says it appears that election staff thought they were opening requests for mail-in ballots and not the actual thing, which is an issue they say occurred during the Primary Election in June. Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro says this investigation proves that mail-in ballots are being protected and that law enforcement is working to ensure that legal, eligible votes are being counted.
