(Undated) -- Here is the latest news: Manhunt that led to shelter-in-place for some Frankford Township residents has resulted in the capture of a bank robbery suspect. Perry County woman is killed by pit bulls. Pennsylvania drivers face new fees for using the roads.  

>>Bank Robbery Suspect In Custody

(Frankford Township, PA) -- A suspect in a bank robbery in Frankford Township yesterday afternoon is in custody today. The suspect robbed the Balco Community Credit Union on Carlisle Road and then fled on foot. The manhunt led to a brief shelter-in-place order for residents near Potato Road and Frytown Road. The suspect was captured and is in custody. Nobody was hurt in the robbery.

>>York Police Investigate Shooting That Sent Man To Hospital

(York, PA) -- Police in York are investigating a shooting yesterday afternoon that sent a man to the hospital. Police say the shooting occurred near East Maple and South Court streets about 3 p.m. They say witnesses reported hearing at least two shots. Police have not released any additional details. 

>>Perry County Woman Mauled To Death By Dogs

(Miller Township, PA) -- Pennsylvania State Police report a Perry County woman was apparently mauled to death by her roommate's pit bulls. A passerby spotted the body of 60-year-old Rhoda Wagner outside her home in Miller Township last Wednesday. Police say she had been caring for her roommate's pit bulls and was alone at the time of the incident. It's not known what led to the attack. With their owner's consent, the three dogs have been euthanized by the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area.

>>Lack Of Money Leads To New Fees For Pennsylvania Drivers

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A budget shortfall for transportation needs in Pennsylvania has led to new fees drivers will have to pay shortly. The state's Transportation Revenue Options Commission gave Governor Tom Wolf its report on how to fill the eight-point-eight-billion-dollar budget to keep the state's transportation system in good shape. Among the most promising recommendations from the panel is a Mileage-Based User Fee. The fee would replace the gas tax. Another funding options is tolls for bridges.

>>York County Animal Shelter Has Too Many Animals, Not Enough Staff

(York, PA) -- Officials with the York County Animal Shelter say they're experiencing the same problem other shelters nationwide are experiencing, and they need the public's help. The animal shelter has more pets than it has room at the shelter. Also, the shelter needs more staff. As people return to work, they're often leaving pets with animal shelters. The York County shelter has about 80 more pets than it can safely handle. It's also asking the public for help filling staff positions at the shelter.

>>Governor Wolf Joins Other Governors In Call For Cuomo's Resignation

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Governor Tom Wolf has joined New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and other governors in calling for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's resignation. This week, an independent investigation by the New York Attorney General claimed Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women and created a hostile work environment in his office. Cuomo denies the charges and says he will not resign. Governor Wolf signed a joint statement with three other area governors in calling on Cuomo to step down.   

>>Adams County Woman Charged With Leaving Puppies To Die

(Germany Township, PA) --State Police say an Adams County woman is charged with leaving several puppies outside in the heat to die last month. Police say 41-year-old Tanya Greene of Littlestown has been charged with cruelty to animals. Police say they answered a call from neighbors in Germany Township on July 17th about puppies barking outside in the heat. When they arrived, they found several of the puppies had died from being left outside too long. 

>>Suspect In December Armed Robbery Arrested

(Shrewsbury Township, PA) -- Southern York Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery at a Shrewsbury Township pharmacy last December. Jamal Gwaltney was arrested in Baltimore last month in connection with a series of pharmacy robberies in Pennsylvania and three other states. Gwaltney is being held in the Dauphin County Prison without bond.

>>Rail Yard Accident Kills Norfolk Southern Employee

(East Pennsboro Township, PA) -- Officials in Cumberland County are investigating the death of a Norfolk Southern employee at a rail yard yesterday. The accident occurred in the Enola Yard in East Pennsboro Township. No additional details have been released. 

>>Hollywood Casino To Open Next Week After Year's Delay

(Springettsbury Township, PA) -- Hollywood Casino in Springettsbury Township is scheduled to August 12th after a year's delay due to the pandemic. The 120-million-dollar casino is expected to create almost 300 jobs. York County officials expect the casino will generate about one-billion dollars annually for the region.

(Clay Township,PA) -- An explosion resulted in a fire at Weaver Nut ComPAny in Clay Township, sending thick black smoke into the air. Firefighters responded around 6:30 p.m. There was also aPArtial building collapse, but no reported injuries.

>>Berks County Has 44 New COVID-19 Cases

(pan style="border:1px solid navy;background-color:yellow">Reading,pan>pa) -- There are 44 new COVID-19 cases in Berks County as of Wednesday, the highest daily total since May 26th. That pushed the total during thepandemic to 48-thousand-971. The state also set a Delta variant surge record as one-thousand-493 new cases were added, also the most since May. One person died in Berks County from COVID-19 yesterday to bring thepandemic total to one-thousand-45.

>>Reading To Spend $4M On Improving Literacy

(pan style="border:1px solid navy;background-color:yellow">Reading,pan>pa) -- Four-million-dollars will be spent by the city of Reading on improving literacy. Mayor Eddie Moran says the city is the only one in Pennsylvania to get the grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health. The city will work with Reading Area Community College and the Penn State Health College of Medicine

>>Four Teens Charged With Assaulting Man

(Lancaster,PA) -- Four teens between 14- and 16-years old are facing charges for an assault on a 42-year-old man in Lancaster. Police say it happened July 8th near the victim's home on South Water Street when the teens knocked him over, broke his arm, and kicked and punched him. Video footage helped identify the four suspects. They are charged with criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and three are charged with aggravated assault.

>>Alvernia University And Customers Bank Donate Bikes

(pan style="border:1px solid navy;background-color:yellow">Reading,pan>pa) -- Alvernia University and Customers Bank havepartnered to give away 90 bicycles and helmets to Reading children. The bikes and helmets were given away at Millmont and Tyson-Schoener elementary schools. Students also received ten books each. The students received the giveaways if they had 75-percent attendance or better during the summer program.
