> Police Investigating Two Shootings in Harrisburg Over the Weekend

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Police in Harrisburg are looking into two separate shootings from over the weekend. The first happened Saturday near Susquehanna and Verbeke Streets where a man was shot in the leg. The second shooting was early Sunday morning when a bullet grazed a person's head near Seventh and Emerald Streets. Officials say the victims in both cases are expected to be alright.  

>>Marijuana Banking Bill Gains More Traction

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A Republican state lawmaker says his marijuana banking bill in the Pennsylvania Senate is gaining more support. Senator John DiSanto from Dauphin and Perry Counties says many cannabis businesses deal only in cash because of federal regulations, so his bill would let banks do business not only with dispensaries but also with testing and research labs that grow marijuana for medicinal purposes in the state. He hopes the full Senate will vote on the bill by the end of the month. 

>>Young Person Arrested for Bomb Threats at Shippensburg Middle School

(Shippensburg, PA) -- A juvenile boy has been taken into custody following alleged bomb and shooting threats he made at Shippensburg Middle School. In a news release, police state the boy has been charged in relation to the January 11th shooting threats and bomb threats on March 8th and 10th. Police didn't say whether the juvenile was a student at the school, and they've not provided further details about the shooting threats.

>>All 3 Democratic Senate Candidates Make it to Spring Breakfast 

(Boalsburg, PA) -- Centre County residents have gotten to hear priorities from all three democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate. John Fetterman, Conor Lamb, and Malcolm Kenyatta attended a spring breakfast for the Centre County Democratic party over the weekend. John Fetterman reportedly shows a substantial lead in potential voting, according to a recent poll by The Hill. Still, many of the people polled also said they're still undecided.  

>>Natural Gas Emerging As Big Issue In Republican Governor's Race

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Many republican candidates for governor are now focusing on the importance of the natural gas industry in the state. Political watchdogs say the issue has taken on new urgency because of the invasion of Ukraine. Some candidates are saying more needs to be done to get natural gas processed. Pennsylvania is the second leading producer of natural gas in the country, behind Texas. 

>>Harrisburg Area Community College Teachers Vote To Unionize

(Harrisburg, PA) -- About two-thirds of the teachers at Harrisburg Area Community College have voted in favor of forming a union. Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board officials say the vote count has been verified as of Friday and faculty members can now start the process of electing leaders and establishing bylaws. Staffers had said they were the last community college in the state without a faculty union.

>>About 50 Swatara Township Immigrants Displaced From Apartment Fire

(Swatara Township, PA) -- The American Red Cross is now working to help about 50 people who've been displaced from some Swatara Township apartments. Officials say they found a huge fire already in progress when they arrived at the building in the 700 block of Garden Drive Sunday morning. One resident says most of the other people in the 12-units who had lived there were immigrants from Nepal, like him. Everyone was able to get out safely.

>>Wave of Car Break-ins Prompt Concern In York County

(York County, PA) -- Police say warm weather is prompting more people to get out - and to leave their car doors unlocked. That's resulted in an increase in car break-ins. They warn against leaving your purse, wallet, or cell phone in your car, even if you're at an event that's close by. Police say sometimes, would-be robbers wait in parking lots to see who emerges without their belongings, knowing they've probably been left behind in the car.

>>Machete May Have Been Used In Homicide Case

(Northumberland County, PA) -- Police in Shamokin say a man is in custody for allegedly killing a woman in Shamokin, Northumberland County. Unconfirmed reports indicate a machete was used in the killing. Police found the woman dead Friday at a home in the 400 block of South Vine Street. Corey Quincy has been taken into custody in the case and faces homicide charges.

>>Hershey Bears Slam Springfield In Overtime

(Hershey, PA) -- The Hershey Bears have added another win to their season total with a 3-2 overtime win over the Springfield Thunderbirds Sunday night at Giant Center. The Bears' defense attacked Springfield, keeping the T-Birds to just seven attempts on goal. Hershey is now 33-27-5 for the season.  

>>Four Dead, 7 Hospitalized From Contaminated Opioids In Berks County 

(Berks County, PA) -- Reading and other areas in Berks County have been the focus of medical calls concerning tainted opioids over the weekend. Officials say four people died and seven are now in the hospital. Emergency Department team members at Reading Hospital say they treated 16 patients who came to the hospital with symptoms of overdose from a combination of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine. City first responders reportedly also used Narcan to revive several people.  

 >>Former Teacher Charged In Inappropriate Relationship with Student

(Derry Township, PA) -- A 26-year-old man from Lancaster County, has been charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female student over a four-year period. Derry Police say Joshua Rhoads of Mount Joy worked as a part-time Year-Round Experiences instructor at the Derry Township school. The victim told police Rhoads had been sexually assaulting her since she was an eighth grader. The school confirmed in a statement that Rhoads was terminated after he was charged.

>>NFL Player From Williamsport Loses Battle With Cancer

(Williamsport, PA) -- A man who came from Williamsport and went on to star and coach in the NFL has died. Family members say Gary Brown has passed away after his battle with cancer at the age of 52. Brown starred in football and track while at Williamsport High School before playing for Penn State. In the NFL, he was a running back for the Oilers, Chargers and Giants. Brown went on to have a successful coaching career, which he started at Williamsport High School. He also coached linebackers for colleges and universities and in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys.

>> Two Residents Left Without A Home From Fire 

(Perry County, PA) -- Two people in Duncannon have been displaced after a fire at their home. Officials say the single-family home at 3416 Susquehanna Trail went up in flames just before 4 p.m. on Friday. The Red Cross is now helping the family as the state fire marshal investigates the cause of the fire. 

>>Man Jailed After Using Fake Money At Local Cell Phone Store

(Williamsport, PA) -- A local man is being held at the Lycoming County Prison for allegedly trying to pay for a new phone with fake money. Authorities say Joshua Serrano, who is 33, used his real name for the purchase at the Metro by T-Mobile store at 500 Pine Street. Serrano allegedly told the employee the bills were recently given to him at the bank. Police believe the money had been used as movie props.

>>Embiid Wins Scoring Title, Sixers Cruising Into Playoffs

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Joel Embiid has secured the NBA's scoring title for the regular season. Embiid edged out Giannis Antetokounmpo with 30.6 points per game despite sitting out yesterday's game. He also became the first international player to lead the league in scoring. The Sixers meanwhile are turning the page to the playoffs as they prepare for a first-round matchup with the Toronto Raptors. Philly will get plenty of rest as the series won't begin until Saturday evening.
