>>Pennsylvania's Smaller Towns May be Granted More Taxing Power to Fund EMS

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A bill that's been introduced in the state house would allow second-class townships to increase their ambulance taxes. If H-B 2601 becomes law, townships could increase their levy from point five mills to one point five mills for emergency services. The extra money would go toward training personnel and providing for worker compensation. If the tax would be greater than one-point-five mills, the increase would need to be approved by the voters of the township.
