Founder of Nemacolin Resort, 84 Lumber Chain Dies at 100
(Fayette County Co., PA) - The man who founded the 84 Lumber Company chain and Nemacolin Resort has died at the age of 100. A family statement provided by the company says Joseph Hardy the third died Saturday on his 100th birthday. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Hardy as being credited with giving the lumber business a cash-and-carry approach for professional contractors and builders. The 84 Lumber Company is the nation's largest privately-owned building materials supplier with nearly four-billion-dollars in revenue of 2020.
