Rainy Day Fund Use Cautioned by Republicans in Budget Meetings

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Senate's Appropriations Committee has begun its work on the state budget for the upcoming year. It's considering Governor Josh Shapiro's nearly 46-billion-dollar budget proposal, which would increase spending by more than a billion dollars. The committee's focus has included the health of the state's Rainy Day Fund. Some Republicans say the governor's spending would quickly deplete the fund by creating deficits of more than two-billion-dollars each year over the next five years.
