PA lawmaker Proposes Better Pet Custody Agreements
(Harrisburg, PA) - Legislation being proposed in the Pennsylvania House will clarify factors for judges who are deciding who gets custody of a couple's pets in divorce cases. In a memo seeking co-sponsors, Representative Anita Kulik of Allegheny County says she's seen too many cases - as an attorney - where the parties couldn't agree on the best arrangements for a beloved pet. The bill would also let the parties enter an enforceable agreement for a companion animal outside of a divorce decree.
