Area Congressman Says Default of U.S. Debt Ceiling Would have Long-Term Effects

(Allentown, PA) -- The U.S. Congressmen from Pennsylvania's Ninth District says a default of the U.S. debt ceiling would have long-term effects. But Republican Dan Meuser says he's still carefully reviewing the bill, which is set to be voted on by the House soon. A follow-up vote in the Senate before the weekend could get the bill placed on President Biden's desk just before a June 5th default date. Democratic Congressman Cartwright from the eighth Congressional District says he supports the idea to raise the debt ceiling so that the U.S.' standing in world financial markets isn't impacted.
