Pollution, Weather Changes Affecting Regional Allergies

(Harrisburg, PA) - Tree and grass pollen are both at "high" levels in the capital area this week. Forecasters at the Weather Channel say climate change might actually be responsible for people's increased allergies as warmer temperatures impact the length of growing seasons. In turn, pollens that normally peak earlier in the season can overlap with later pollens so that they're both in the air at the same time. The officials also say frequent rainfall and air pollution contribute -- diesel exhaust particles, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide can all add aggravation at the microscopic level.
