Lawmakers Urge EPA to Adopt Stronger Emissions Standards

>Lawmakers Urge EPA to Adopt Stronger Emissions Standards

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania's Eighth District representative is among the nearly 100 members of Congress urging the EPA to make emissions standards stronger. In a letter sent late last week, Representative Matt Cartwright was among those who called for more decisive measures as well as opposition to standards proposed by Republicans in Congress and major automakers. The lawmakers cited warnings that the Earth is on a path to exceed the one-point-five degree Celsius temperature increase that's predicted within the next generation. In April, the EPA estimated that electric vehicles would comprise more than two-thirds of all new vehicle sales by the end 2032, achieving at least a 61 percent reduction in emissions.
