Sen. Fetterman Co-Sponsors Bill To Cancel All School Lunch Debt
(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Senator John Fetterman is one of three lawmakers who have introduced a bill to cancel all student lunch debt. The junior senator from Pennsylvania says the measure would stop penalizing hunger and humiliating kids. It would direct the U.S. Department of Agriculture to pay for all debts owed to schools for lunch or breakfast programs. Fetterman says in Pennsylvania, there are nearly half a million children who collectively owe nearly 80-million dollars in school lunch debt. Nationwide, over 30-million children can't afford their school meals.
