House Votes To Mostly Ban Xylazine

(Harrisburg, PA) -- House lawmakers have approved legislation that would largely outlaw xylazine [[ ZAI·luh·zeen ]]. The sedative is often used in combination with the drug ketamine in veterinary health. Last Thursday, House members approved legislation that would outlaw its use, with the exception to continue use as an animal sedative. The state Department of Health earlier this year temporarily named xylazine as a Schedule Three controlled substance in Pennsylvania because it is increasingly being found in mixtures of illicit drugs, including fentanyl. House Bill 1661 now heads to the Senate for consideration.
