Latest Effort Contributes to LanCo having Most Preserved Farms of all U.S. Counties
(Lancaster County, PA) -- A 91-acre crop farm in Rapho Township is among the latest in Lancaster County to receive preservation status. The Kirby F. and Joanna E. Nissley Farm is among across the land that has been preserved from being developed commercially through a three-and-a-half-million- dollar investment of state and county funds. A former director of the Lancaster County Agricultural Preserve Board says Lancaster County has the most preserved farmland of all U.S. counties. Tom Daniels from the University of Pennsylvania says the county has more than 120-thousand preserved acres and more than one-thousand-500 preserved farms.
