Personal Finance Requirement for High Schoolers Goes Into Effect In 2026

(Lebanon, PA) -- A personal finance requirement for high schoolers is due to go into effect in the 2026 school year. State Senator Chris Gebhard, a Republican from Lebanon, proposed the requirement that became law last month. It will require high schools to provide a course in personal financial literacy worth at least half a credit that students will have to take to graduate. Gebhard says teens will use the information learned in the class every day of their lives. The new law has not mandated what topics schools must include in the financial literacy classes.
