Clean Air Report

Clean Air Report

(Undated ) -- A report just released by the American Lung Association shows air quality in almost half of the U.S. is poor. According to the "State of the Air" report, the number of people affected rose from 119 million to 131 million from last year, with wildfire smoke ranking high among the contributing factors. Since the Clean Air Act in 1970, emissions of outdoor air pollutants, such as cars, fuel and industry, have dropped almost 80 percent, but more needs to be done regarding climate change and reducing traffic emissions among other factors. Cities in California and Arizona were among those with the worst grades for air pollution. Those ranked with the cleanest air were found in Maine, Tennessee, Nebraska, Honolulu and North Carolina.
