Angela Donmoyer, 51, and Russell Moore, 56, both of Enola, Pennsylvania, have been arrested and charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of children in connection with the death of a 10-year-old girl who was in their care. The child died in August 2021, and the couple is accused of neglecting to seek medical attention for her, despite her showing signs of illness at least three days prior to her death.
According to the criminal complaint filed by investigators, the child was found dead on a mattress on the floor of her home. She was described as "very skinny with a very distended stomach." An autopsy revealed that she died of pulmonary emboli due to stenosis to idiopathic megacolon, or chronic constipation.
The investigation revealed discrepancies in the parents' accounts of the child's last doctor visit. Donmoyer claimed the girl had seen a doctor a year before her death, while Moore stated it had been six or seven years. However, the child's medical records indicated she had not been seen by a doctor since 2014.
A child abuse physician at Penn State Hospital reviewed the girl's medical records and determined her death was caused by medical neglect on the part of Donmoyer and Moore. The couple was charged on August 15 and is currently being held without bail in Cumberland County Prison.
