>Doctor Offers Decoration Safety
(Undated) -- A doctor is offering safety tips for holiday decorations. Carole Parsons, an emergency medicine physician for the Cleveland Clinic, says falls from ladders is one of the most common injuries. He says make sure the ladder is firmly planted in the ground, have someone else with you and not reach out too far when trying to hang lights. Any lights with broken bulbs or frayed wiring should be tossed because they are a fire hazard. He recommends keeping live trees away from fire places or other fire sources. Consumer Safety Product Commission stats show last year nearly 15-thousand people were treated in emergency departments due to holiday decorating-related injuries.
