The Lancaster County Human Trafficking Task Force reported 51 arrests related to human trafficking in 2024. According to the District Attorney's Office, these arrests resulted from six operations targeting individuals soliciting prostitution and minors for sexual activities. Among those arrested, 22 were "Johns" soliciting prostitution, and eight were charged with alleged sexual activity with minors.
The Task Force, launched three years ago, aims to combat human trafficking through investigations, prosecutions, and community awareness. In 2024, the Task Force received referrals from the FBI, ChildLine reports, and public tips. Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick oversaw the prosecution of these cases.
The Task Force collaborates with ZOE International, an organization that provides support to trafficking victims. In 2024, ZOE advocates engaged with 19 victims, offering essential services and emotional support. The Task Force also partnered with North Star Initiative to conduct over 55 training and awareness events, reaching more than 8,000 people.
District Attorney Heather Adams emphasized the importance of publicizing Task Force activities to deter potential offenders. Detective Christopher Jones received the Outstanding Investigator of the Year award for his contributions to the Task Force's success.
The Task Force is a collaborative effort involving local, county, state, and federal agencies, as well as private and non-profit organizations.
