The Pennsylvania Turnpike is preparing for a busy Easter weekend, with over two million drivers expected to travel the highway from Good Friday through the Monday after Easter. This marks a 1.5% increase compared to the same period last year. To accommodate the surge, the Turnpike will suspend all maintenance work, ensuring as many lanes as possible remain open for travelers.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is committed to providing a safe travel experience. As part of the GEICO Safety Patrol initiative, there will be increased patrols on the roadway, along with additional state troopers for the annual Easter Holiday Enforcement Period. This effort aims to enhance safety and manage the expected traffic increase.
Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and drive responsibly. The Turnpike offers several resources for real-time traffic updates, including the 511PA smartphone app and changeable message signs along the route. For more information, travelers can visit the PA Turnpike website.
