>New Alzheimers Stats Show 7.2 Million Americans Living With Disease
(New York, NY) -- For the first time ever there are now more than seven-million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease. The Alzheimer's Association's 2025 Disease Facts and Figures report finds seven-point-two million Americans are living with the disease, and nearly four in five Americans would want to find out if they have it before even developing symptoms. New York Dr. Nikhil Palekar [[ NIH-keel ]] [[ PAL-uh-kar ]] says two new FDA-approved medications, Lecanemab [[ le-can-eh-mab ]] and Donanemab [[ doe-nan-eh-mab ]], are helping to slow the progression of symptoms in people with early stages of the disease. He stresses as the push for a cure continues, there's also research examining the benefits weight loss drugs could have on targeting brain inflammation to reduce the risk of the disease.
