In Fairview Township, Pennsylvania, a car carrier that crashed on Interstate 83 on Monday (May 12) was reported stolen. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. near Exit 35, Route 177/Lewisberry, when the tractor-trailer flipped over, spilling four vehicles into a ditch. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the driver, Ramon Vasquez-Fajardo, 39, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended and is now facing charges, including receiving stolen property and reckless driving.
Investigators reported that the owner of the truck, who was unaware of its theft from a lot in Harrisburg, confirmed ownership upon arrival at the scene. Among the vehicles on the carrier, a Dodge Durango was identified as stolen from New Jersey. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the vehicles have since been towed away.
The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, as it occurred in a heavily trafficked area used by school buses and commuters. Less than a mile away, a separate crash on I-83 northbound at 5:45 a.m. further exacerbated traffic delays. The Fairview Township Fire Department has since cleared the scene, and traffic is flowing normally again.
