Pennsylvania's U.S. Senators, John Fetterman and Dave McCormick, have expressed their support for former President Joe Biden following his recent cancer diagnosis. Biden, aged 82, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, as announced on Sunday (May 18).
Senator Fetterman, a Democrat, stated, "Joe has been a fighter his whole life. He will prevail," while extending his support to Dr. Jill Biden and the family. Republican Senator McCormick also offered his prayers for a swift recovery, saying, "May God bless him and his family during this difficult time."
Biden's diagnosis comes after a routine medical exam revealed a small nodule on his prostate earlier this month. His office confirmed that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective management. Biden and his family are currently reviewing treatment options with his physicians.
Political figures from both parties have extended their sympathies to Biden. President Donald Trump, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Barack Obama are among those who have publicly offered their well-wishes. According to Time, Obama stated, "Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe."
The diagnosis has prompted a wave of support from across the nation, with many recalling Biden's commitment to cancer research, including his "Cancer Moonshot" initiative. As reported by ABC27, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro also extended his prayers to Biden and his family.
As Biden and his family consider treatment options, the public and political leaders continue to rally around the former president, hoping for a successful recovery.
