Wanda Williams Wins Primary, Fran Chardo And More Dauphin County Results

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — Harrisburg Wanda Williams appears to be on track to winning re-election in the municipal primary elections. Four candidates were running to replace her.

According to the Dauphin County Elections Office unofficial results, Williams is in the lead with 35% of the vote. She is ahead of Miller by 83 votes.

Williams spoke to CBS 21's Maxine Rose on Tuesday night, she said she was proud of the work her team had put in over the past couple months.

The candidates have responded to a number of issues throughout the campaign. Including public safety, community and economic development, and the Broad Street Market, among others.

According to online campaign finance records, Treasurer Dan Miller and Mayor Williams had heavily outraised the other candidates. Heading into the primary both Miller and Williams had more than $30,000 cash on hand. The closest to them, Councilman Lamont Jones had around $5,600 cash on hand going into the primary.

Williams had said she would run a write-in campaign if she lost to Miller, however that does not appear to be needed at this moment.

There is no Republican candidate running for Harrisburg mayor, so Williams is expected to remain as Harrisburg mayor.

The Harrisburg City Council race saw four familiar faces clinch the Democratic nominations. Ralph Rodriguez, Jocelyn Rawls, Ausha Green, and Robert Lawson, all of whom have served in City Hall before, emerged victorious. Their success in the primary positions them as strong contenders for the general election.

In the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas race, current District Attorney Fran Chardo led the Republican side with 42.75% of the vote, while Jim Zugay followed with 39.74%. On the Democratic side, Katy Kennedy-McShane and La Tasha Williams secured their spots for the general election with 37.51% and 33.86% of the vote, respectively.

The primary also featured elections for school board members across several counties, including Cumberland, Perry, Lebanon, and Lancaster. These members will guide school district operations, set policies, and adopt budgets.

The results from these primary elections will shape the political landscape in Dauphin County as candidates prepare for the upcoming general election in November.
