Tim Barker has secured the Republican nomination for York County District Attorney, defeating challenger Jack Graybill. Barker, who currently serves as the district attorney, is seeking his first elected term after being sworn in this January. He took over from Dave Sunday, who was elected Attorney General. Barker has been a prosecutor in the York County District Attorney's Office since 1998 and has a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
With 86% of the votes counted, Barker led Graybill by 11,000 votes. Graybill, a former police officer and local attorney, owns the law firm Kearney Graybill, LLC. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Pennsylvania operates a closed primary system, allowing only registered Democrats and Republicans to vote for their party's candidates, unless a constitutional amendment or special election is on the ballot.
CBS 21 reports, primary elections in Pennsylvania are typically held on the third Tuesday of May, except during presidential years. The results from this primary set the stage for the upcoming general election.
