Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has condemned the recent shooting of Minnesota lawmakers, calling it an unacceptable act of political violence. On Saturday (June 14), Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were tragically killed, while Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife were injured in the attack. The suspect has been apprehended and is in custody.

Governor Shapiro, along with other state officials, expressed their outrage over the incident. Shapiro emphasized the need for everyone to stand against the political violence that is increasingly affecting the nation. He shared his sentiments on social media platform X, urging for a united front against such acts.

According to Local 21 News, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the politically motivated nature of the shootings. Other Pennsylvania lawmakers, including Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, Senator McCormick, and Representative Dan Meuser, also released statements condemning the violence. Representative Meuser highlighted the need to end incendiary rhetoric and hate.

As the investigation continues, officials and citizens alike are calling for increased efforts to curb political violence and promote safety for public servants.
