Linglestown is Mourning the Loss of 10-year-old Bryson Funk

The community of Linglestown, Pennsylvania, is mourning the loss of 10-year-old Bryson Funk, who died from a heart attack on Thursday (June 12) just one day after leading his baseball team to a championship victory. Bryson's sudden death was attributed to myocarditis, a condition causing inflammation in the heart's wall.

Bryson was a talented athlete known for his dedication and passion for sports. He pitched the final three innings of his team's championship game, striking out the last batter to secure the win. His family and friends remember him as a "shining light" and a "joy to coach," as noted by the Linglestown Baseball Association.

Despite being born with congenital heart defects, doctors confirmed that these conditions did not contribute to his death. Bryson was also a member of the 717 Athletics cheerleading team and enjoyed playing wiffle ball and kickball, working outdoors, and visiting Hersheypark.

In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign was launched by family member Nicki Brantner to help cover funeral expenses. As of Monday, the campaign had raised over $41,000. The community continues to rally around Bryson's family, offering support and condolences during this difficult time.
