A listeria outbreak linked to FreshRealm Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo meals has led to three deaths and 16 hospitalizations across 13 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging consumers to dispose of these meals, which were sold at Walmart and Kroger stores nationwide.
The outbreak involves the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause severe illness, particularly in pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. The contaminated meals were recalled on June 17, 2025, and have since been removed from store shelves.
The CDC advises anyone who has purchased these meals to not consume them and to discard them immediately. Listeria infection can lead to serious health complications, and symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues.
