CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A suspect is in custody after a male was found dead, face-down in the front yard of a Mechanicsburg home on Sunday, according to police.
Richard King Jr., of Mechanicsburg, will be charged in connection to the victim's death, the Mechanicsburg Police Department announced on Facebook.
An investigation was launched after police responded around 2:23 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of East Markle Street for a death investigation.
Once on scene, officers found a white male with a gunshot wound, laying in front of a home. A second white male was sitting in the grass beside the body, police said.
First responding crews closed roads in the area during the initial investigation, and residents of the neighborhood told CBS 21 Sunday the area is generally peaceful.
Police are withholding the name of the victim in order to "maintain the integrity of the investigation," which is ongoing by the Mechanicsburg Police Department, the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office, County Detective and Forensic Unit and the Office of the Attorney General.
Police said King Jr. will be charged with the victim's death, though the exact charges will be determined as the investigation continues. More information will be released "as warranted," police added.
