Residents of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, are evaluating the damage caused by severe flooding earlier this week. On Monday (July 14), Mount Joy Borough declared a disaster emergency after intense rainfall led to widespread flooding. The storm brought over seven inches of rain, overwhelming local stormwater infrastructure and resulting in significant water damage to homes and businesses.
The Mount Joy Fire Department reported conducting 16 water rescues and receiving more than 30 requests for assistance with flooded basements. The west end of the borough was particularly affected, with some homes experiencing over five feet of water. Despite the severity of the situation, no injuries have been reported.
