Central Pennsylvania Youth Ministries (CPYM) has issued a public statement following the arrest of former youth director Daniel Reed, who faces charges related to child pornography. Reed is accused of using a hidden camera to take inappropriate photos of teen girls at the CPYM facility in Juniata County. The organization terminated Reed in December 2024 after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced.
According to ABC27, CPYM stated that they immediately notified authorities upon Reed's termination and have cooperated fully with the investigation. Their primary concern is the safety and well-being of the students in their care.
Court documents reveal that Reed allegedly installed a hidden camera in a bathroom at the facility, capturing images of minors showering. The bathroom, built in 2023, was the only one with a shower and was reportedly encouraged by Reed. Investigators discovered a two-way mirror and a power source for a camera in a utility closet adjacent to the bathroom.
As reported by FOX43, a search of Reed's home led to the seizure of numerous electronic devices containing illicit images and internet searches related to hidden cameras. Reed faces charges of attempted production, production, and possession of child pornography. His case is awaiting review by a grand jury.
