Gas Leak in Millersville Leads to Evacuations

A gas leak in Millersville, Pennsylvania, led to the evacuation of several homes on Monday afternoon (July 28). The incident occurred in the 100 block of West Frederick Street, where a leak was detected originating from a house. UGI Utilities, the local utility company, was on the scene to address the situation.

According to Lancaster County dispatchers, the leak prompted the evacuation of the house's occupants and nine surrounding properties. Units from the Millersville Borough Police Department responded promptly, blocking off the road to ensure public safety. Fortunately, no injuries or illnesses were reported during the incident.

The gas was successfully turned off, and residents were allowed back into their homes after receiving the all-clear. Repairs to the gas line are currently underway and are expected to be completed today (July 29). The response to the leak was overseen by Blue Rock Fire Rescue, ensuring that the situation was handled efficiently and safely.
