Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain on Thursday (July 31) led to significant flooding in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, causing multiple road closures and disruptions. Streets like North President Avenue and Pleasure Road in Manheim Township were submerged under water, with motorists navigating through high water levels.
Local resident Albert Darrenkamp and his neighbors worked to clear storm drains, helping the floodwaters recede on North President Avenue. Despite these efforts, LancasterOnline reported that the area remained under a flash flood watch.
East Hempfield Emergency Management announced the closure of Rohrerstown Road between Noll Drive and Embassy Drive due to flood damage. Marietta Avenue also faced closures at the creek, as stated by Yahoo News. The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning and Watch for parts of the county.
In addition, torrential downpours were observed on Route 30, with videos capturing the extent of water pooling on roadways.
